Pécs (Hungary)

Under the framework of the EUIPO’s European Cooperation Projects, a memorandum of understanding was signed on 14 February 2024 between the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and the Municipality of Pécs. Through this memorandum, not only was the city of Pécs certified as an official ‘Authenticity,’ but Hungary became part of the Network of Authenticities as well.

The city of Pécs, situated in the southwest of Hungary, is a city renowned for its historical significance, vibrant cultural scene, and intellectual contributions. With a history dating back over 2,000 years, Pécs boasts a diverse architectural landscape, including Roman ruins, Ottoman mosques, and stunning Baroque buildings. The city's unique blend of cultures reflects its rich past and makes it a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city is home to several prestigious educational institutions, including the University of Pécs, which fosters innovation and research in various fields.
