In December 2023, Madrid was re-certified as an Authenticity under the European Cooperation Project (ECP8) ‘European Network of Authenticities’. This re-certification reinforces Madrid's ongoing commitment to protecting intellectual property and combating counterfeiting.
Originally, on 29 December 2021, Madrid became the sixth city to be certified as an Authenticity. Following an agreement signed between the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and the Municipality of Madrid, a series of IP-related awareness-raising activities took place locally over the subsequent two years. With the recent re-certification, these activities will be repeated and expanded to continue promoting awareness and education on the importance of intellectual property protection.
