Kick-off media event in the Authenticity of Mykonos

As part of the European Cooperation Projects, and in particular ECP8 which includes the ‘European Network of Authenticities’, the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) and the municipality of Mykonos held the project kick-off media event on 8 June. This event follows Mykonos’ certification last July as the second Greek ‘Authenticity’.

The event was the first in a series of IP-related, awareness-raising activities that will take place over the next two years in the certified Authenticity.

Authenticities is an initiative designed to empower local authorities to engage citizens and partner organisations across the EU in the fight against counterfeiting. The overall aim is to create a European Network of Authenticities.

The Executive Director of the EUIPO, Christian Archambeau, who joined the event via video, said:

‘This kick-off media event is the first of four activities. It will be accompanied by a public awareness campaign, training to local enforcement authorities, and education activities. It is very fitting that it is held today, on 8 June, the World Anti-counterfeiting Day and the launch date of the spring campaign in Greece’.
