The European Network of Authenticities started this month (June) after different kick-off events were held last month in the certified cities. After the recent kick-off event in Corfu (Greece), it was time for Targovishte (Bulgaria).
Following last November’s certification of Targovishte under the European Cooperation Project ECP8 ‘European Network of Authenticities’, the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Municipality of Targovishte held their project kick-off media event on 17 May 2023.
The event was the first in a series of IP-related, awareness-raising activities that will take place over the next 2 years in the certified Authenticity. All the stakeholders represented at the event were firmly committed to the defence of intellectual property rights and the fight against counterfeiting.
Authenticities is an initiative designed to empower local authorities to engage the public and partner organisations across the EU in the fight against counterfeiting.
The other active certified Bulgarian city in the network is Burgas, while the previous Authenticities of Sofia and Plovdiv (whose certification expired) are planning to get recertified soon.
Under this cooperation project, EU IPOs will contribute to building a European Network of (certified) Authenticities, where best practices can be shared and new professional relationships forged.
