Under the framework of the EUIPO’s European Cooperation Projects, a memorandum of understanding was signed on 27 June 2025, between the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) and the Municipality of Rhodes. Through this memorandum, the city of Rhodes, in Greece, was certified as an official ‘Authenticity’.
Located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa in the southeastern Aegean Sea, Rhodes is the capital of the Dodecanese islands. Known for its rich historical legacy, Rhodes is home to one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with impressive fortifications built by the Knights of St. John. The city combines stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and a diverse local gastronomy, making it a leading Mediterranean tourist destination. Its international airport and modern port ensure excellent connectivity with major European cities and cruise itineraries. The city also features a lively commercial market, including luxury shopping and local artisan goods, while hosting educational institutions like the University of the Aegean, attracting students from across Greece.
As a certified Authenticity, a series of IP-related awareness-raising activities will take place locally during 2025, 2026 and 2027 in Rhodes.
