Under the framework of the EUIPO’s European Cooperation Projects, a memorandum of understanding was signed on 22 December 2020, and renewed on 26 July 2024, between the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria (BPO) and the Municipality of Plovdiv, in cooperation with different stakeholders. Through this memorandum, the city of Plovdiv, in Bulgaria, was certified as an official ‘Authenticity’.
Plovdiv, European Capital of Culture in 2019, is the second largest city in Bulgaria. With over 8 000 years of history, Plovdiv is fast becoming southern Bulgaria’s most dynamic and developed city and hub. Its economy is well-developed and diversified, which includes a mixture of industry, services, tourism and information technology.
As a certified Authenticity, a series of IP-related awareness-raising activities are planned to take place locally over the next two years in Plovdiv.
